Back from the christmas holiday's :)

My planning folder is all complete now, and so is the music magazine.
I have already posted some of my folder work on here so I'm just going to post my music magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread. I created the front cover and the contents page on photoshop and the double page spread was created on indesign.

When using photoshop I had never used it before to this extent so it took me a little bit of time to remember how to use all the tools. However once I had started using it for a few lessons I found it pretty easy to use after that. For the front cover, I used quite a few different tools throughout the production and these were :
  • move tool
  • lasso tool
  • magic wand tool
  • healing brush tool
  • brush tool
  • paint bucket tool
  • horizontal text tool
  • rectangle tool
  • eyedropper tool
These were the main tools that I used to create my front cover, It was quite hard at first to try and make the front cover look good when I wasn't too sure how to actually use the tools correctly. I am happy with my front cover but I think if i had time there would be things that I could change.

  1. Your front cover is really nice, it isnt to confusing and the cover and sale lines are well positioned, the only negative is that the colours contain alot of pinks and purples, this may indicate that the magazine is for girls only, this magazine may be intended for both genders, if so the colours does not help this point. Overall though the magazine is nice looks professional.

  2. Nice front cover Emily, I like the way that you have made the three girls on the front page look straight down the camera, this engages the reader, because it is as if they are looking at the reader.

One bad thing is that it looks like it only appeals to girls, if you wanted it to appeal to both genders you maybe could of had a boy on the front page as well as just girls.

However it is a really good front cover and you have improved a lot since the school prelim task you should be very proud of yourself :)

  3. A good front cover, the picture looks professional. The colours work well together even thought there is quite a few, but as the colours are mostly pink and light purple, it would say the magazine is only aimed towards girls. But still a good front cover constructed.

  4. Emily, you have taken a really good picture of your proposed band for your music magazine and fits well on your front cover.

I feel that you have a massive space bottom right corner and an image is needed to feel this. I also can't make out the pink writing above your coverlines and don't have a clue what it is about, a larger font would be needed here.

I think your masthead 'Lyrics' is an appropriate choice and the font style looks really good and creative, well done :D

  5. I really like your front cover, i think it is well layed out. I also like the variety of fonts styles you have used that also work well together. Although i think the colours and types of bands you have featured it appeals more to girls rather than boys and it needs to appeal to both genders.

  6. Your Magazine (front cover, double page spread and contents) all look great! I love the colours that have been used throughout the magazine it looks really snazzy. The spacing is very well done and there are no gaps. The layout is good on every page and it doesn't loook too overpowering. The only thing i would say is that on the front cover at the bottom where i says "DOLLS", the rest of the pink band looks a bit empty. Apart from that it is all really good. well done :)
